How this is calculated

Pace converters are simple unit conversions. We treat your pace as seconds per kilometre, then derive the other units: seconds per mile = seconds per km × 1.609344, km/h = 3600 / seconds per km, and mph = km/h ÷ 1.609344.

One mile is exactly 1.609344 kilometres — an exact ratio set by international agreement, so all conversions here are exact (only the rounding to two decimals introduces error).
